Shreya, Alesha & Disha's Nail Art Learning Story

Learners: Alesha, Disha & Shreya
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: Week 8, Term 2
Learning Area: Visual Art             Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols & Text
Learning Observed
Alesha, Disha and Shreya chose to participate in an iExperience that involved using a cork tile, hammer, nails and thread to create an artwork. The aim of this artwork was to ‘Pay it Forward’. They needed to think about someone in their life who they could encourage by gifting them their cork tile. The learners needed to plan out their design and colour choice based on the person they had in mind to receive their finished work (connected).
Alesha, Disha and Shreya collaborated to overcome challenges and to help each other make decisions about colours. They extended their capabilities by safely using a hammer to put in the nails and show thought about how close/far apart each nail needed to be.

  • Display tiles in the habitat and talk to other learners about how they were made.

iExplore- Cubism

Learner:   Shreya      Learning Coach:   Luisa Maloni            Date: 4th September, 2015
Learning Area: iExplore: Visual Art: Cubism
Learning Observed
We have been learning about the art movement Cubism. We have looked at many examples of cubism and have created our own studies using the cubist style. Shreya used the elements of shape and fracture to create a study of a tree and a painting. She pushed these ideas further by adding pattern and texture in her painting. She then looked at images on the internet to choose an artistic exemplar she was interested in trying. Shreya chose an image of a heart and then created her own study using ideas from her artistic exemplar. She experiments with  a range of pattern, colour shades and line.

Key Competencies/Vision Principles

Shreya demonstrates the Vision principles of Curiosity in continually experimenting with and searching for new ideas in cubism, Capability in executing beautiful, bold and expressive artworks and Connected in connecting with what other artists are doing within the art style of Cubism. She uses the Key Competencies of Thinking as she develops her own creativity as well as follow an inquiry process.
Next Learning Steps

  • Describe what she has learned and say what her next steps are
