Shreya, Alesha & Disha's Nail Art Learning Story

Learners: Alesha, Disha & Shreya
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: Week 8, Term 2
Learning Area: Visual Art             Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols & Text
Learning Observed
Alesha, Disha and Shreya chose to participate in an iExperience that involved using a cork tile, hammer, nails and thread to create an artwork. The aim of this artwork was to ‘Pay it Forward’. They needed to think about someone in their life who they could encourage by gifting them their cork tile. The learners needed to plan out their design and colour choice based on the person they had in mind to receive their finished work (connected).
Alesha, Disha and Shreya collaborated to overcome challenges and to help each other make decisions about colours. They extended their capabilities by safely using a hammer to put in the nails and show thought about how close/far apart each nail needed to be.

  • Write a letter/postcard to the person who will be receiving the tile. Tell them about what the materials are and how it was made.
  • Display tiles in the habitat and talk to other learners about how they were made.

Saniya, Shreya & Disha's Satellite Learning Story

Learners: Shreya, Saniya & Disha
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 7.3.16
Learning Area: iExperience - Space                     Key Competency: Thinking
Learning Observed
The learners had six activities to choose from to extend their knowledge about Space. Shreya, Saniya and Disha chose to take part in one that required problem solving and thinking skills. They had the option to make either a Mars Rover or a Satellite and picked to do the Satellite. With the provided materials, they had to create their own version of the image that was shown on the screen. Shreya, Saniya and Disha showed curiosity by using the materials in specific ways and tried to use as much detail as possible in their creation. They collaborated by sharing ideas and possible ways to overcome issues, ultimately being very pleased with their final product.
